Remember your roof

A routine roof check is essential, as your roof is one of the most important parts of your home.

Problems can occur with a damaged or leaking roof, and a damp house can cause your home heating to work overtime.

Ensure your roof is well maintained by following these tips:

  1. Check your spouting, downpipes, and gutters
Autumn is a good time to check for any blockages. This can happen from dead birds and rodents to plastic bags, balls and dirt build up. Regular checking and clearing helps to prevent blockages that can cause overflows, which may enter your home.

  2. Check your attic
Another area to check is your attic for any signs of leaks, especially when there is heavy rain. Check for any mould or rot, or any water damage signs, which may not be visible from the ground or ladder.

  3. Check your roof
It's a good idea to check your roof overall. Check the material used, such as corrugated iron, tiles, etc – is there any warping, or missing, broken or damaged roof areas? Any damage on your roof can compromise the effectiveness of your roof to keep you dry and warm over winter.

If you find any issues with your roof or require help with completing an inspection, we encourage you to contact a Master Plumber, as this may require specialist knowledge and involves working at heights.
