September - Spring time

Kereama Carmody, Master Plumbers/Masterlink's Wellbeing Coach shares his monthly blog.

Spring is now upon us and between you and me, I’m so excited to get out of the winter slump. The days are getting longer and peoples’ moods are lifting, so what are the best ways to get the most out of spring? Gardening! Now personally, I am avid about garden care, as my family know, mowing the lawn is one of my favourite activities and I take much pride in a good looking lawn. It isn’t for everyone but to be frank it is a great way to spend some time outside and can be very satisfying.

Gardening doesn’t have to be seen as a chore and can be an extremely satisfying activity for not just yourself, but your family and friends. Whether it’s a landscaping project or some planting, there are so many things to do. We are all well aware of the cost of eating well and unfortunately those fruit and vege prices are yet to reduce, so growing your own produce is a great way to bring fresh food into your home, while at the same time ensuring some time outside and some physical activity.

With the upcoming change of weather there are more things to do than just gardening, such as going for walks, getting those barbeques dusted off for the summer months or even a new outdoor exercise plan. Setting a goal for something you want to achieve is also a gratifying way to go into the warmer months. This could be a fitness goal or starting up a new outdoor sport or other activity. To be fair the list is endless. Take advantage of the coming warmer months and initiate a new lease on life this coming spring.

Enjoy those warmer spring days and the mental and physical benefits of getting a bit more vitamin D from the sun. Take care and be kind.
