An update from Master Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers NZ chief executive Greg Wallace.
Greg talks about the new Apprenticeship Boost scheme and the importance of employers taking on apprentices to help grow the industry.
He also covers Master Plumbers recent submission to the Building Reform Bill, for which he will be appearing before the Select Committee in August.
As it stands, the amended Bill continues to make product certification voluntary, doesn’t require third party verification of products and lacks actionable enforcement measures.
Master Plumbers believes that the amendments to the Bill do not go far enough to protect the health and safety of New Zealanders, particularly from the harmful effects of metal leaching from unregulated plumbing products.
