Master Guarantee
With the Master Guarantee, you gain the protection and peace of mind only a Master Plumber can offer.
The Master Guarantee is issued by Master Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers NZ Inc to provide protection against:
- substandard workmanship (Workmanship Cover)
- insolvency or liquidation (Insolvency/Liquidation Cover)
Workmanship Cover
Workmanship Cover allows for substandard work to be remedied to a mutually agreed standard up to the value of $15,000 by either the original contractor or nominated Master Plumber.
If you are dissatisfied with a completed contract, provide a written complaint and Master Plumbers will investigate. They will provide you with a written assessment of the quality of workmanship and advice on whether or not further work is required to complete or remedy unsatisfactory work.
Master Plumbers will do its best to mediate a solution with the member to achieve a satisfactory outcome for you.
If this is not achieved, Master Plumbers will in good faith consider whether or not disciplinary action against the member is justified and may take such action.
If the complaint is upheld, Master Plumbers will have the substandard work or materials remedied by the original contractor or another nominated member.
Insolvency/Liquidation Cover
Insolvency/Liquidation Cover is a payment protection plan covering loss as a result of the insolvency of the Master Plumber.
The plan covers workmanship and materials paid for in advance up to the value of $25,000.
Master Plumbers will have the same rights as the consumer to claim in the insolvency.
The Master Guarantee issued by Master Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers NZ Inc and its constituent Associations is issued subject to the Society’s Terms & Conditions.
This guarantee does not limit or restrict any other statutory right or remedy available to a consumer under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986, or the consumer's right to refer any matter to the Disputes Tribunal.
