EcoPlumbers® is a plumbing sustainability programme designed uniquely for New Zealand conditions.
EcoPlumbers is available to Master Plumbers full member companies – helping you meet the growing demand by Kiwi consumers for energy- and water-efficient solutions. Great for the environment, great for your business!
The company principal, and at least one licensed employee, must successfully complete the full EcoPlumbers programme to register the company as an EcoPlumber. All EcoPlumber companies pay an annual licence fee and complete a refresher module every two years to maintain their status.
This entitles you to use the EcoPlumbers brand in your business – assuring customers that you are operating in a knowledgeable, professional manner while also meeting your obligations under the Fair Trading Act.

Three core modules make up the EcoPlumbers programme. You will be assessed on completion of each module via an open book assessment.

Hot water from the Sun |
Help your customers make the right decision around their solar hot water options. This session covers new technology instruction, including topics such as solar hot water technology, rebate information, retrofit sizing and installation. |

Plumbing Inspection and Audits |
An overview of domestic and commercial water auditing, inspections and reporting, assessment and strategies including water and energy audits of commercial/industrial and residential buildings, and creating a master plan for future improvements. |

Energy Conservation & Water Efficiency |
You will gain an understanding of greenhouse gases and climate change – cause, effects, impacts and the new plumbing technologies associated with energy reduction and environmentally friendly appliances. Learn about the water cycle process, water footprints, urban management of the three waters, safe harvesting and use of rainwater and greywater, current legislation and thinking, the plumbing technologies including backflow risk and prevention, and products that support these activities. |
