Experience: This candidate is 18 years old and has a restricted driving licence. He has a basic understanding of plumbing, and has had experience with changing taps and unblocking toilets. This has given him an insight into the basics of plumbing, but he understands that he needs a lot more practical work before being 'useful' to an employer. He left school with NCEA Level 3 in 2010.
Resides: Te Atatu
Experience: This candidate is 18 years old and is due to leave school in November 2012. He has achieved NCEA Levels 1 and 2 and is coming towards the end of Level 3. He has carried out work experience with three local plumbers, who have provided good references for him. He's a nice, polite lad who really wants to become a plumber.
Resides: Kelston
Experience: This candidate is 21 years old. He achieved NCEA Levels 1, 2 and 3 at school, as well as being involved in the Gateway project. After school his parents wanted him to go to university, but this wasn't for him as he wanted a trade. Plumbing is really where he sees his future, so he is looking for an apprenticeship. He is a bright lad who looks set to be very successful in the future.

Experience: This candidate is 20 years old and has a restricted driving licence. He has done a few jobs since leaving school and last year he completed a pre-trade plumbing and gasfitting course at Unitec. He then secured some work experience with a local plumber but, unfortunately, they ran out of work. He has achieved NCEA Levels 1 and 2 at school.
Resides: Lynfield
Experience: This candidate is 19 years old and has a full driving licence. He has carried out work experience for a local plumber, which he really enjoyed, so he now wants to secure an apprenticeship. During that time, he replaced piping, ran piping to a new garage and replaced a hot water cylinder, amongst other things. Previous to this, he has also worked as a glazier. He left school with NCEA Level 2 in 2010.
Resides: Browns Bay
Experience: This candidate has a full driving licence. He has an excellent understanding of the plumbing industry, as he has worked for over 18 months previous to this application. He was made redundant from a plumbing company in June 2010, and was unable to secure an apprenticeship to continue, so has been carrying out different work since then. Plumbing is his real passion, however, and he wants to try again. He left school with NCEA Level 3 in 2008.
Resides: Waiheke Island/East Auckland
Experience: This candidate is 28 years old. He has a full driving licence, learner's class 1 and a forklift licence. He has successfully completed a pre-trade plumbing and gasfitting course at Unitec and has gained work experience with several plumbing companies. He has also had a variety of other practical work experience, including self-employment in property maintenance.
Resides: Whangaparoa
Experience: This candidate is 21 years old. He has a full driving licence. He achieved NCEA Level 1 and has gained some work experience in plumbing and drainlaying. He says he enjoys working in a team environment but can also work independently, is reliable, outgoing, polite and has a good sense of humour.
Resides: North Shore
Experience: This candidate is 29 years old. He has a full driving licence, wheels tracks and rollers, learner's class 2, dangerous goods and a forklift licence. He has shown commitment by travelling to Invercargill to successfully complete a pre-trade plumbing course at SIT and has gained good work experience with drainage companies. He now wants to secure a plumbing and drainlaying apprenticeship.
Resides: Beach Haven
Experience: This candidate is 18 years old. He has a restricted driving licence and will be sitting his full licence at the end of September 2012. Having family in the building and plumbing trades has inspired him to seek an apprenticeship in plumbing and gasfitting. He is polite and pleasant, not afraid to engage in conversation at an appropriate level, with a degree of maturity that inspires confidence.
Resides: Red Beach
Experience: This candidate is 18 years old, has a full driving licence and his own car. He is able to board with his sister in Glenfield for any North Shore opportunities. He is available for an immediate trial and has had Gateway Plumbing experience. He is polite and motivated, pays attention to detail, is eager to learn and not afraid to ask questions.
Resides: Kumeu
Experience: This candidate is 18 years old, and has achieved NCEA Level 1. He now realises that to obtain a career he likes he must knuckle down and complete an apprenticeship. He is keen and enthusiastic to secure an apprenticeship in plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying, and is prepared to travel to most Auckland regions to achieve this.
Resides: Torbay
Experience: This candidate is 31 years old, and emigrated from Iran three years ago. He shows commitment and hardworking dedication, and is due to complete a plumbing pre-trade course at Unitec this November. He has permanent residency, a full driver's licence and his own car to travel to any area in the Auckland region to obtain his goals in plumbing and gasfitting.
